Mpox virus has spread in large communities in Europe. Many countries have raised the alarm about the virus. By the end of May 29 in 2022, WHO published a disease information notice that 23 non-Mpox-endemic countries and territories had reported 257 confirmed infection cases by Mpox, in addition there were about 120 suspected cases from May 13 and 26. WHO predicts that more infection cases by Mpox will be detected as surveillance is expanded.

Mpox is an acute zoonotic infectious disease caused by Mpox virus infection. The clinical symptoms of human infected by Mpox virus are similar to smallpox infection. However, since the eradication of smallpox in 1980 in the whole world, smallpox has no longer existed, while Mpox is still circulating in parts of Africa.
